Bayern Munich got a last minute winner in a match that they dominated in the second half putting United under pressure for most of the second half.

It only took just over a minute for the first goal to go in and it was no surprise when it was Wayne Rooney who had scored. It all came when Demichelis fouled Nani out wide, Nani picked himself up and his free-kick took a little deflection on his way into the box and Rooney unmarked was able to volley United into the lead.

Bayern did threaten United with Lahm and Altintop working down the wing well, but it was United who has the better chance as Nani danced past a few players in the box before shooting wide on his left foot.

Frank Ribery saw a shot saved by Van der Sar with his first real contribution of the game while Nani saw a cross trouble Butt as it hit the top of the bar. Moments later Ribery played a beautiful ball over the top for Altintop but his heavy touch fell to Van der Sar.

Bayern created another chance as Ribery’s cross was too heavy for Olic but Van der Sar felt the need to punch it away, the ball fell to a Bayern player who played in back in for Olic who couldn’t get on the end of it.

It was Bayern who played better for most of the first half after United scored creating a number of chances. United did have another chance before half-time as Rooney brought the ball down in the box but his shot was saved by Butt.

Bayern came out in the second half looking for a goal and kept on pushing United who’s defence were holding them off. Bayern saw a Pranjic shot blocked by Scholes while Van der Sar was kept busy as he was saving shots from Altintop, Olic and van Bommel. Bayern’s persistence paid off as Neville handled the ball outside the box, Ribery took the resulting free-kick which took a wicked deflection off Rooney and into the bottom corner.
