Champions League Results; Manchester United 4-0 A.C. Milan

By on Thursday, 11th March 2010

David Beckham’s return to Manchester didn’t go as well as he planned as Manchester United outclassed AC Milan this evening.

It didn’t take long for Man United to take the lead as Gary Neville had plenty of space to run into as to deliver in a great ball into the box for in-form striker Wayne Rooney to header past Abbiati. Milan didn’t really create many chances but their only chance came when Ronaldinho headed agonizingly wide. Manchester United dominated the rest of the half with AC Milan not getting much chance to stamp their claim on the match.

In the second half Man United came out looking to seal the win and within the first two minutes they did. Nani ran with the ball down the wing and played an incredible pass with the outside of his foot through to Wayne Rooney, who calmly chipped over the advancing keeper and scored.

United went on from this and Park scored the third with a shot across goal from inside the box on a tight angle after Paul Scholes played him through.

AC brought on David Beckham who got a standing ovation from the home side, and the England midfielder nearly got a goal for the visitors as he caught the ball on the volley outside the box, but it went straight to keeper Van der Sar who could only parry it away.

United made it 4-0 a few minutes before full time when Fletcher got a goal at the far post. AC nearly got a consolation goal, but Inzaghi missed his chance after Beckham played in a teasing cross.
