It was announced last night that ex England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has been appointed as coach for the Ivory Coast at the Wold Cup.
The announcement came out on Sunday evening, with other candidates believed to include Mark Hughes and Bernd Schuster.
A statement from the country’s Football Federation said “He’s an experienced coach who has proved himself. His objective is to ensure an honourable participation at the upcoming World Cup.”
Eriksson will now have to prepare for the World Cup in a squad which is led by Chelsea star Didier Drogba and his side will face Portugal, South Korea and Brazil.
It is unknown what length of contract Sven-Goran Eriksson has signed with the Ivory Coast.
