Tonight we give you a round-up of the French encounter in the Champions League between Lyon and Bordeaux, and Championship matches between Plymouth Argyle v Barnsley and Watford v Crystal Palace.
Lyon 3-1 Bordeaux
Lyon edged a step closer to the next round of the Champions League tonight after a beating Bordeaux 3-1, although there is still a second leg still to come.
Lyon took the lead within 10 minutes when Lopez made Bordeaux’s Ciani pay for his mistake, and it didn’t take long for Bordeaux to equalise when Arsenal target Chamakh scored in the 14th minute.
Michel Bastos ensured Lyon went in at half-time with the lead when he scored in the 32nd minute after another defensive mistake, and Lyon scored their third in the 77th minute when they were awarded a harsh penalty for handball, in which Lopez scored his second.
Plymouth Argyle 0-0 Barnsley
This game ended 0-0 although Plymouth may have felt they could have won the match after they hit the bar twice in the first half.
Barnsley may feel a little disappointed after earlier on in the season this match was played and abandoned. Barnsley were also winning that match 4-1 when the referee called time on the match in the 60th minute due to poor weather conditions.
Watford 1-3 Crystal Palace
Palace received some good news today as it was announced that they could be close to being taken over. This must have rubbed off on the players as they went to Vicarage Road and got all three points.
Stern John opened the scoring for the away side on the half hour mark as they went in at half time leading. Scannell doubled their lead 6 minutes after half time and Danns ensured the points 15 minutes later.
Watford fans did have something to shout about when Graham scored in the 83rd minute but it was too late for the home team.
