Watch Champions League Highlights of Olimpique Lyonnais vs Bayern Munich on 27.04.2010
Ivica Olic stole the show to inspire Bayern Munich into the Champions League Final at the expense of Lyon.
Croatian striker Olic scored a crucial away goal with just 26 minutes on the clock to extend Bayern’s first-leg 1-0 scoreline, requiring Lyon to score three times in reply to progress.
Their task was made almost impossible though when Brazilian Cris saw red for a second bookable offence with an hour gone. After picking up his first booking controversially for a foul on Olic, Cris sarcastically applauded referee Massimo Busacca and saw a farcical second card straight away along with his marching orders.
Lyon got themselves back into the game though driven by their passionate fans baying for blood following Cris’ injustice, and could have brought the tie back into contention but for Govou’s shot too close to Hans Jorg-Butt in the Bayern goal, but it wasn’t to be as Olic doubled his tally when he fired past Lloris from an amazing Altintop pass.
And from there it was Bayern’s name in the Final draw and a question of how many they would score, before Olic grabbed a deserved hat-trick with a fine conversion from Philippe Lahm’s cross after Arjen Robben had seen an effort well saved by Lloris.
