Swansea City edged a little closer to their Championship play-off dream as they despatched Barnsley at the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans were on a poor run of one win in their last eight going into the last three games of the season and needed the three points to keep ahead of Blackpool in seventh place after defeat to Bristol City last weekend.
But they put themselves in the driving seat when Luke Steele parried a Darren Pratley header into the path of Ashley Williams who scored his fifth of the campaign..
This was after Shefki Kuqi inexplicably missed an open goal after rounding Luke Steele who missed a kick over the top, dragging his left-footed shot wide from four yards.
But Swansea were into their comfort zone with their now-traditional silky passing style and thought they made sure of the points when Kuqi this time didn’t miss his header after he literally flung himself at a Mark Gower pinpoint cross, providing his trademark ‘Swan dive’ celebration in front of a boisterous home crowd.
Just when they thought they were safe however, veteran Darren Moore, who was previously linked with a move to Swansea, headed home an Iain Hume corner just before the break to give the Tykes a route back into the game.
However any comeback was extinguished towards the end of the game when Darren Pratley struck home after some excellent work by provider and newly introduced substitute Andrea Orlandi for an emphatic finish into the top corner.
Swansea are now just two games away from securing their season extension into the play-offs, however remain only two points above Blackpool in seventh.
