It is believed that Manchester City will be given special dispensation to sign a goalkeeper until the end of the season. City who are currently in a battle for fourth spot with Tottenham lost number one goalkeeper Shay Given to a dislocated shoulder on the weekend in the match against Arsenal.
Other Manchester City goalkeepers Stuart Taylor is also injured while the very impressive Joe Hart is currently out on loan at Birmingham City and cannot be recalled from his loan spell. This leaves the fourth choice keeper Gunnar Nielsen left for City, who is unexperienced at this level and played his first match on the weekend after coming on as a substitute against Arsenal.
