It has been announced today that Fiorentina manager Cesare Prandelli will become the new coach of the Italian national team when Italy return from the World Cup.
This announcement comes as current coach Marcelo Lippi announced that he would leave his post once the World Cup had finished. It is expected that Prandelli will sign a four year contract, and will be presented once the team returns.
Prandelli who now leaves Fiorentina to take over this post was the longest serving manager in Seria A and managed to turn around Fiorentina from a team fighting relegation, to making them finish in the top four to compete in the Champions League Qualifiers.
