The first all American encouter of this world cup may not prove to be the most exciting of games as Chile take on rank outsiders Honduras in what will be only their second World Cup. Perhaps the most telling indication will be the way in which both teams qualified for the tournament, Chile produced their best away record in a qualifying campaign, beating Colombia 4-2 to secure their place in the finals whereas Honduras scraped into the competition beating El Salvador 1-0 with their World Cup hopes hinged on USA beating Costa Rica, a game which was decided in the 94th minute.
It it is difficult to see Honduras finishing this game with a result, if they are to pose any threat to Chile they will need Inter Milan star David Suazo firing on all cylinders and even then, it is unlikely he will get the service he needs to make an impact. Chile on the other hand are a naturally attacking team and there is optimism that goalscorer Humberto Suazo along with Alexis Sanchez (billed as the next Chilean football hero) will provide a potent attacking threat that could see Chile punch above their weight at this tournament. Further incentive for Chile is that their group is easier than most and aside from Spain, will fancy their chances against Switzerland to reach the last 16.
The safe money would go on Chile, Boylesports has Chile to win at 1.67 – 1
