Bristol City have confirmed that they have signed England international David James on a free transfer on a one year deal with an option of a second year.
James was due to talk with Celtic over the weekend, but had to stall talks as he said he had a family issue to deal with. It came as a surprise when rumours came out last night that Bristol City had spoken to James regarding a move to Ashton Gate.
David James had the following to say after signing for Bristol City “I’ve had offers to stay in the Premier League but it is more important that I play football for the right club and be a family man.”
“I had a long conversation with the chairman, Steve Lansdown, yesterday and I liked what he said about the club and his ambition.
“I know all about the plans for a new stadium and desire to win promotion to the Premier League.
“The club is ambitious and that’s what I am. The south west has not had a club in the Premier League and that needs to change.”
