English referee Howard Webb has been given the privilege of refereeing the World Cup Final on Sunday between the Netherlands and Spain. The last Englishman to referee a World Cup Final was Jack Taylor in 1974.
This will end a fantastic season for Webb and his assistants Michael Mullarkey and Darren Cann. Not only have they had a fantastic season in the Premier League but they have also refereed the Champions League Final and now the World Cup Final.
Webb has refereed three matches in the World Cup so far and has yet to show a red card or awarded a penalty.
