Swansea City bounced back from their opening day defeat to Hull City to beat Preston North End 4-0 with a very impressive performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The day began for the Swans paying tribute to former player Besian Idrizaj after the player passed away only days after the Championship season had finished.
The players wanted to win the match and pay their tribute to Besian through winning and they got off to a great start as Stephen Dobbie controlled the ball turned and shot past the Preston goalkeeper from 18 yards out.
The Swans kept on pushing for more goals and just before half-time they got two more as Darren Pratley scored from a corner and Nathan Dyer slid in to extend their lead to three goals.
The Swans got their fourth 11 minutes after half-time as Nathan Dyer was brought down in the box with the referee giving a penalty which David Cotterill scored.
New signing Scott Sinclair very nearly scored a superb solo effort as he ran to the byline, took the ball inside the box and then shot just wide. Sinclair eventually got a goal that he deserved, but he was offside.
Preston never really threatend the Swans, they had several shots but couldn’t test Dorus DeVries.
