Here is the round-up of Saturday August 14th results in the NPower Championship.
Barnsley 1-0 Crystal Palace
An own goal from Crystal Palace defender Patrick McCarthy was enough for Barnsley to record their first win of the season.
Derby 1-2 Cardiff
Cardiff City got their first win of the season as Michael Chopra gave them the lead at Pride Park before Cywaka got an equaliser. Cardiff managed to earn all three points as Chris Burke got a late goal for the Welsh side.
Doncaster 1-1 Bristol City
A late penalty from Doncaster helped to earn them a draw. Bristol took the lead through Stewart at the beginning of the second half. They looked set to win the game but Doncaster won a penalty in the 90th minute which was cooly slotted in by Sharp.
Ipswich 1-1 Burnley
Ispwich took the lead through a fantasic back heel from David Norris just minutes from full-time, but, the home side couldn’t hold on as Burnley got an equaliser from Carlisle in the 92nd minute.
Leicester 0-0 Middlesbrough
A goalless draw between Leicester City and Middlesbrough was dissapointing for many fans as Leicester’s Andy King had a goal disallowed.
Millwall 4-0 Hull
Kenny Jackett’s side demolised newly relegated Hull City as they continue with their winning streak. Morison and Lisbie gave Milwall a 2-0 lead at half-time with Morison getting his second and Trotter adding Millwall’s final goal of the game.
Portsmouth 1-1 Reading
Portsmouth couldn’t field an 18 man squad for the match and only had 4 players on the bench and 8 minutes in Ciftci opened the scoring from the home side. Reading never gave up though and were rewarded 3 minutes from time as Kebe scrambled the ball into the back of the net.
Scunthorpe 0-1 Norwich
Norwich recored their first win of their campaign as a 91st minute goal from Grant Holt was enough to get the away side the three points.
Sheff Utd 0-3 QPR
After this defeat Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell parted company with the club. QPR opened the scoring through Hogan Ephraim in the 11th minute with Mackie and Taarbat adding two more goals before half-time to seal the win.
Watford 2-2 Coventry
Watford went two nil up in the game with Buckley getting a goal just before half-time and Eustace scoring just before the hour mark for the home side. It seemed that Watford would get their second win of the season but two late strikes from Bell and Jutkiewicz earned Coventry a draw.
