Blackburn Rovers tested Arsenal early on in the game with Cesc Fabregas clearing off the line at the front post and then minutes later Almunia troubled from a long throw from Pedersen.

Arsenal then pushed forward and Walcott was nearly through on goal only for Samba to make a last ditch tackle to stop the England international from pulling the trigger.

Blackburn were dominating Arsenal at set pieces and Samba went close from a corner after rising above his marker.

Arsenal scored in the 20th minute as Robin Van Persie played Theo Walcott through on the wing for him to cut inside and to shoot accross goal for the opener.

Blackburn Rovers got their equaliser 6 minutes later as El-Hadj Diouf cut inside into the box after beating Koscielny and cut back for on loan striker Diouf to tap into an empty net.

Arsenal were dealt a blow as the first half came to a close as Robin VanPersie was brought off injured.

Arsenal got the thrid goal of the match and the winner when Cesc Fabregas saw his shot saved but the ball was parried into the path of Arshavin who slotted the ball into the back of the net to give Arsenal all three points.
