Wigan fans were not very optimistic going into this fixture after suffering a heavy defeat against Tottenham last season, and this was evident as only 60 Wigan fans made the journey to White Hart Lane.

Both teams had plenty of chances to score goals as Jermain Defoe went close twice in the first half despite not having much service from midfield.

Wigan also had many chances to score as Steve Gohouri hit the bar and Alcaraz missed a glorious chance in front of goal.

Wigan got all three points though when Hugo Rodallega smashed in a cross-shot ten minutes from time.
