The Republic of Ireland start off their opening game of the European Championship Qualifiers with a win away against Armenia after Keith Fahey gave them a 1-0 win.
The Irish were always going to be favourites for this game and it didn’t take long for them to start dominating the match and trying to get the opener.
Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane missed a great chance in the opening stages while Preston North End defender Sean St Ledger also went close before the break.
Armenia’s first real chance came in the second half when Yura Movsisyan squanderd a great chance, while Robbie Keane also missed a glorious chance for Ireland.
Ireland finally took the lead in the 76th minute, the ball falling to Keith Fahey who only had to tap the ball into an empty net.
Armenia did push in the final few minutes for an equaliser, and very nearly got it only for Liam Lawrence made a vital clearance.
